Mountain Air and Maori Culture

Famous for its spectacular scenery, New Zealand boasts dramatic rugged coastline and a lush interior. Be transported to middle earth and indulge in some of the most pure and decadent local produce, direct from paddock to plate.

The South Island is where you will find the awe inspiring Fjordland National Park. Although this is one of the wettest parts of the world, the cascading waterfalls, panoramic mountains and pristine environment will leave you mesmerised.

Dunedin is home to New Zealand’s only castle – Larnach Castle & Gardens, steeped in history of the original settlers and goldminers. Discover Edwardian architecture, art galleries and shops to satisfy our retail needs. Many cruises will also stop by the French inspired city of Akaroa, nestled on the Volcanic Banks Peninsula, home to an abundance of marine life including rare Hector’s Dolphins.

In the North is the capital of Wellington, set in a sheltered harbour. Wellington is a bustling city with a relaxed atmosphere offering great shopping, galleries and museums. Take a trip on the famous cable car or put your movie hat on and visit the famous spots where Lord of the Rings was filmed.

Napier is an art-deco inspired city that was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931. As the gateway to Hawkes Bay, you’ll have the opportunity to indulge in renowned wines and fresh fruit that this area produces in abundance.

Rotorua stays true to its Polynesian roots and is the city where you can experience the traditional Maori culture. From cultural performances to feasting in a Maori Hangi, you’ll take a piece of New Zealand with you. Try a mud bath in one of the many geothermal pools that are said to have great natural healing remedies. If you want to get the blood rushing then you can try zorbing, jetboating, white water rafting or luging!

Auckland is known as the ‘City of Sails’ and is New Zealand’s largest city. Set among volcanic islands and a myriad of harbours, it has a laid back vibe with Polynesian flair. Stroll through shops, museums and the theatre or seek thrills at the Auckland Bridge Bungy Jump.

The Bay of Islands is known for beautiful inlets and coves with white sandy beaches bordered by sub-tropical rainforests. With more than 140 islands hugging this coastline the natural beauty of this area will blow you away.

The majority of cruises around New Zealand sail between October and March, giving you a better chance to enjoy calmer seas and sunny skies. Ex Australia you can cruise from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, or join a circumnavigation cruise that includes New Zealand.

Reviews From Our Happy Clientele

I have recommended both The Cruise Gallery and Dawn Princess to friends and to our adult children and their families, as I’m sure our grandchildren would love the ‘Kids Club’.
