Soak up the Mediterranean sun from white sandy beaches dotted with umbrellas and bars that play host to a vibrant nightlife. With such diversity sprawled right along the coastline of the Mediterranean, it’s no wonder so many travellers gravitate to this part of the world for a spectacular cruising experience.

Barcelona is a vibrant city and a key departure cruise port for larger lines including Royal Caribbean, Princess cruises and Holland America. Boutique operators include Regent Seven Seas, Seabourn and Silversea. Before you depart you must explore Gothic Quarter – home to La Ramblas a very happening strip boasting delicious tapas and Gothic architecture.

Cruising via The French Riviera will generally include a stop in Nice – a city that perfectly blends old & new and is renowned for its picturesque shoreline, great food and relaxed environment. It only a short taxi across to Monaco should you wish to be dazzled by the playground for the rich and famous!

Cruise to Rome to explore Italy’s Cinque Terra, a set of 5 small Italian towns built into the Liguria Coastline. Walk the length of the stone walls surrounding the town of Lucca, marvel at Il Duomo in Florence, spend a day in the rolling hills of Tuscany or learn about Roman history at the famed Colosseum.

The Amalfi Coast is another Summer draw card boasting stunning rugged coastline where terraced houses are dotted across the cliffs.  Don’t miss The Isle of Capri and the famous Blue Grotto – perfect for indulging in fresh local cuisine and beautiful sunsets.

is not to be missed! Be romanced as you ride a gondola down canals, explore the 14th century Doges Palace, admire the skill of the Murano Glass blowers or simply enjoy an espresso at one of the many cafes surrounding St marks Square.

The Dalmatian Coastline boasts pristine wilderness that is the perfect backdrop for many pictures. Visit the Diocletian’s Palace in Split, or spend a day at the island of Korcula, surrounding by charming inlets, sandy beaches and a charismatic medieval town. Dubrovnik provides a real glimpse at the history of the region, a stark contrast to the modern pedestrian zone known as the Stardun where you will find many boutiques and restaurants.

The Aegean Sea is home to islands that you will take your breath away; from Crete and its ancient walled cities of Chania and Heraklion to the cosmopolitan islands of Santorini and Mykonos. There is nothing quite like watching the sun set over Santorini, against the backdrop of the ocean and houses with white washed walls.

Turkey will touch your soul and the welcoming touch the locals give you warm your heart. Barter in Istanbul for local handicrafts and tapestry rugs at the Grand Bazaar (the largest covered market in the world), visit the 17th Century Blue Mosque decorated in 33 shades of 20,000 delicate blue Iznik tiles or take a leisurely cruise on the Bosphorus River. Pay your respects as you sail past Anzac Cove where our ANZAC’s bravely fought during World War 1.

Most cruise lines operate from the Mediterranean for 6 months each year during the Northern Hemisphere Summer, so expect most itineraries to cruise from April to October. Not only will you experience sunny blue skies, but you will also enjoy longer days of summer sun.
